When I Met the Ancient Ones

Sitting here with the ancient ones
Breathing the same air
Feeling the same wind
Against my skin,
As they, against their rocky crests
Being mesmerized by the hypotonic sight in front of me.
Not moving, just letting the strong winds guide my body.
I’m in awe of their beauty and strength.
Their aliveness is baffling me.
I wish I could lay here for hours
Looking and letting them speak to me
In ways my mind cannot comprehend
Oh yes,
Their wordless language is louder than anything I’ve ever heard
They murmur truths old as the Earth.
All I can do is open myself to receive
Take it all in
Through every fiber of my being.
The chemical reaction between us is obvious
I cannot help but stand still
And feel their presence permeating my cells
It’s the sweetest feeling to become
One with them
